A very handsome big owl, seen at Högholmen – Korkeasaari in Helsinki zoo in Finland just before Christmas. It is one of the largest owls and live in the north. It’s name is Great grey owl or Strix nebulosa. More about it on wikipedia at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_grey_owl.
More critters at Camera Critters and more winged pictures at Wild Bird Wednesday and The BIRD D’Pot .
WOW ! What a fabulous capture Christina. Happy New Year.

Thank you! I was very lucky to catch this one and another owl at Helsinki zoo and a big sea eagle as well, probably because the place was almost empty of people and the birds were quite close. Gourgeous birds. I hope to come up with more posts again and wish you A Happy New Year!
